Madolins: Help for Your Slicing

Slicing is a part of any meal preparation and is usually the most tedious part of a meal. Slicing also adds to the prep time of a meal for friends and family which most of us would rather use enjoying their company. Really slick tools called mandolins, not the instrument, can speed you through mounds of slicing and reduce prep time to almost nothing. They can even help in pre-preparing vegetables to be used later in the week providing easy to prepare meals for busy families.

The mandolin slicer from Prime Pacific is made from stainless steel so you know it is durable and reliable, not to mention simple and easy to clean. The stainless steel is a heavy grade steel adding to the longevity of the tool. This helps with the constant pressure and stress put on the device during use and preparation. You will find a mandolin, or several, in any professional kitchen; it is a favorite among chefs and cooks alike. Imagine being able to slice paper thin onions for burgers, casseroles, onion rings and more.

The mandolin comes with 2 cutting blades for switching between different vegetables without cleaning and it helps to keep one sharp while using the other. The blades are adjustable providing up to 1/2 inch slices for hearty meals and hearty eating guests. Slicing is not the only why to prepare food with a mandolin; 3 julienne style blades allow for beautifully cut vegetables in a matter of seconds once again reducing your prep time. A food holder is included with any mandolin and helps to guide the food and protect your hands from possible cuts. It holds the vegetables in securely in place so all you have to do is slide it back and forth.

Keep in mind that the mandolins will do all of the work and there is little to no need to apply heavy pressure to the device or food while slicing. Mandolins are also the only tool that can produce waffle cuts. Waffle cuts add dramatic presentation to your meals with little effort on your part. We have all seen waffle potato chips and French fries, but you could take this a step further and impress your guests with waffled carrots, cucumbers, and tomatoes for a one of a kind salad. The mandolin doubles as a cheese slicer; slicing cheese can be a real pain without the proper equipment and the mandolin makes it child’s play.

To keep the mandolin in place while in use Prime Pacific has designed the base with a rubber bottom for non-slip grip. This works well on wet countertops as well as dry; although while preparing a meal you are more likely to have a wet countertop. This protects you from slips that could slice your hand and fingers; remember the mandolin blades are extremely sharp. Included with the mandolin is a slicing guide to help you start using the tool, although they are very simple to use, clean and operate. Every kitchen should have a mandolin for quick slicing to save time that is better spent with your family and friends.
